Our group was faced with an issue in the workplace where our group member Ethan Pray works. He is currently employed with Student Life at the University at Buffalo as a manager and noticed a key thing that is wrong within the work place. He has pretty good experience with Student Life since he has been employed there for almost a year.
The main issue that we are talking about deals with the allocation and collection of time-sheets. Within student life there is no set database or electronic way to store time sheets. The process basically just deals with signing only one sheet of paper to send out to get paid. This current system is not very efficient since the files could easily get lost, which has happened several times, hence the reason we are making this online database. Ethan has had his payroll messed up several times due to time-sheet mess-ups and we decided to set up a system to change this.
We used Microsoft Access to set up a database that would make sure all time-sheets are in order and easily accessible. We used a variety of formats that include forms, reports and switchboards. We are positive that with this database in use there will be no errors in timesheet collection and application. Also this would save a lot of time that would arise from finding files, correcting errors, and also perhaps any employee that would get very upset with mess-ups and quit which results in looking for new employees.
